The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shed light on why he did not oppose the selection of the new Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, during an interdenominational thanksgiving service at Beulah Baptist Conference in Ogbomoso.
News About Nigeria gathered that Governor Seyi Makinde had approved the appointment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the 21st Soun of Ogbomosoland on September 2, 2023, following the passing of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III.
The kingmakers officially installed Olaoye on September 8, 2023.
Speaking at the Thanksgiving service, Pastor Adeboye revealed that he did not stand in the way of Oba Olaoye’s ascension to the throne because he believed the new monarch was destined to be a king.
Adeboye said; “I knew Olaoye was born to be king. When he came to me to inform me about the development, I told him to go and pray. He came back and said he had not heard anything.
“I told him to go back and pray again, and after a while, he came back and told me God had spoken. I have heard Him loud and clear that I should go ahead.”
Adeboye dismissed critics, mentioning that if he had objected and God had approved, God’s word would prevail.
He stated, “I cannot stop him because Pastor Olaoye was destined to be a king even before he was born, and thank God it is coming to fruition.”
Adeboye anointed Oba Olaoye and his wife at the service, praying for a peaceful and successful reign, and counselled the new Soun to embrace people, promote peace, and encourage unity among his subjects.
In his response, Oba Olaoye expressed gratitude for the guidance and mentorship provided by Pastor Adeboye, noting that it was spiritually important to be anointed by the same person who ordained him as a pastor.
He promised to lead Ogbomosoland with equality, justice, and fairness, stressing that his leadership would be inclusive and advantageous to all of its citizens.
