Tinubu Not Neutral In Rivers Crisis, Supporting Wike - Ijaw Group Alleges

Ahead of the judgement of the Supreme Court on the Kano state gubernatorial case, the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to interfere in the decision of the apex court, News About Nigeria reports.

This was said during the party’s Northwest Zone special prayer organised to support Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir’s victory at the Supreme Court.

The prayer had about 500 clerics in attendance, leading prayers for the embattled governor’s victory at the Supreme Court.

Speaking after the prayers, the Northwest Vice Chairman, Shehun Garu, stated that the people of Kano State voted for Governor Yusuf in the March 18 gubernatorial poll.

According to him, the judgement of the appeals court was unfavourable because it was against the will of the people of the state who voted for Yusuf.

He therefore called on the Supreme Court to work with the evidence before it and affirm Yusuf as the duly elected governor of Kano State.

Garu Alo urged members of the NNPP and the people of the state to remain peaceful and calm as they await the judgement of the Apex Court.

On his part, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Bala Yunusa Moh’d, while highlighting the importance of the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, charged the supreme court not to allow any interference in any form as it carries out its assignment.

He further charged the Supreme Court to avoid any external influence in its judgement on the appeal before it.
