Ogun Seals Six Healthcare Facilities In Regulatory Crackdown

The Ogun State Government has sealed four hospitals and two medical laboratories to guarantee that regulations governing the healthcare industry are followed, News About Nigeria reports.

Ayomide Outpatient Hospital in Itele, Ololade Clinic and Maternity Home in Iyana Ilogbo, Mercygate Hospital in Itele, Fehintola Clinic and Maternity Home in Ijako, Diurnal Medical Laboratory in Itele, and Blizz Medical Laboratory in Abeokuta were among the sealed facilities that were found to have violated numerous regulations, including not being registered, hiring unqualified staff, operating outside of their registered scope, and being careless.

This action comes after ten private medical establishments in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area were sealed by the state government’s “Operation Stingray” special task squad.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, the government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, is dedicated to sanitising the medical profession in the state to protect the lives of the people.

Dr. Coker also added that the government’s goals for the health sector are in jeopardy due to the spread of quacks.

Speaking to the media following the enforcement operation, the commissioner made it plain that fake medical professionals and those trying to get around certain laws would no longer be allowed to operate as usual.

She emphasised the importance of the Private Hospitals and Other Health Establishments Registration Law’s registration requirements and the necessity of private health institutions functioning within legal parameters.

The commissioner issued a warning against hiring unqualified workers and acting beyond the parameters of registration, stating that the government would no longer accept such actions.
