Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been urged by the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Constituency II in Ogun State, Igbalaye Ayodele, to make available a database for the state’s youths, facilitating easy access to job opportunities, News About Nigeria reports.
Ayodele, who also serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Sports in the state House of Assembly, made this request during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the National Youth Council Of Nigeria, Akolawole Shoremi, at his office in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Tuesday.
He emphasized that the government’s primary focus should be on creating job opportunities for the youth, suggesting that a database created by the state government could be used to select qualified candidates for employment.
Ayodele believes that with a robust database, even the son of an ordinary individual can achieve success without relying on political connections.
In a statement by his media aide, Adeyemi Onadimu, it was mentioned that this database would serve as a guide for the government to identify and select qualified candidates for various job positions.
The lawmaker called for the development of strategies to complement youth development, aligning with the state’s commitment to employment and job creation.
Ayodele, in his capacity as the chairman of the committee on youth and sports in the state, pledged to make a positive impact by ensuring that the youth are duly considered.
Shoremi, on his part, urged Governor Dapo Abiodun and the state government to enhance their commitment to Ogun by ensuring that the dividends of democracy are felt by the youth and other citizens.
