Sokoto Governor Lauds Judiciary Over Appeal Court Judgement

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has lauded the judiciary for affirming his electoral victory.

He described the judgement as a testimony of an unbiased Nigeria’s judiciary.

The Governor said this in a statement released by his media aide, Abubakar Bawa, after the judgement of the appellate court in Abuja, on Monday.

The court dismissed the appeals against him by the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sai’du Umar.

Aliyu, who appreciated God for his victory, also described the court’s judgement as a clear demonstration to the world that Nigeria’s judiciary is unbiased, just and fair.

He said, “We see this victory as a victory from the Almighty Allah and we thank him for that. We equally commend our judiciary for standing for the truth and what is right.”

The governor also reassured the people of the state of his administration’s unwavering determination to deliver on the mandate and to give the people the dividends of democracy.

He also promised that his administration will continue to provide an enabling environment that will guarantee the needed development in Sokoto State.

Speaking on the fight against insecurity, the Governor disclosed that his administration is determined to secure and safeguard the state through sustained military operations and to ensure that bandits and other criminals in the state are eliminated.

He also called on oopposition parties in the state to come together and partner with his administration towards building the state for the good of all.

News About Nigeria had reported that the PDP candidate in Sokoto State, having lost at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, filed a petition at the appellate court challenging the verdict that upheld the victory of Aliyu at the last election.
