Governor of Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has stated that the contractors in charge of the construction of the Effurun/Warri Flyovers have a period of 27 months to complete the project, News About Nigeria reports.

The governor made this known while performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of three flyovers, cloverleaf, road expansion, and pedestrian bridges in the Effurun and Warri metropolis of the state on Sunday.

According to him, the construction of the flyovers and road expansion fulfilled the promise he made to the people of the state during his inauguration on May 29.

The governor said that the project, which costs over 77 billion, would ease traffic gridlock and vehicular movements in the affected areas, adding that it would change the face of the twin cities of Effurun and Warri.

He further noted that the projects would create employment and improve economic activities for engineers, artisans, labourers, suppliers, transporters, and quarry operators, among others in the construction value chain.

Oborevwori disclosed that the sum agreed upon by both parties has been disbursed to the contractor, who has begun surveys, final designs, sub-soil tests, and other activities preceding the commencement of actual construction works. This, he stated, was in addition to the establishment of site yards, offices, and life camps.

He, therefore, called on the contractor in charge of the projects to work tirelessly and ensure the agreed-upon schedule is met.

He also urged the immediate communities and their leaders to appreciate the government’s investment and cooperate to ensure the speedy completion of the projects.
