The Nigeria Association of Retired Civil Defence Officers has urged the Federal Government to reassess the retirement benefits of officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), News About Nigeria gathered.

This call was made by the association’s Chairman, Retired Deputy Commandant-General Evans Ewurum, during the inauguration of a 13-member committee tasked with establishing an operational plan for the smooth functioning of the Nigeria Association of Retired Civil Defence Officers (NARCDO).

In a statement released on Friday, Ewurum said that the appeal was directed at securing a retirement and pension plan that aligns with the standards set by other security agencies.

The association, functioning as an adjunct to the NSCDC, has specific responsibilities related to managing the affairs, post-service life, and living conditions of retired NSCDC officers across the country.

Ewurum said, “The association is an appendage of the NSCDC and has been assigned specific and well-defined functions of managing the affairs, activities, post service life and living conditions of retired NSCDC officers nationwide.

“The inaugurated committee is to midwife the effective take-off of the association which was established to primarily cater for the welfare and well-being of its members. They are to plan and coordinate actions and activities aimed at producing a blueprint that will lead to a very successful fundraising for the association’s operation.”

He directed the committee to submit its preliminary report within two weeks, underscoring the importance of commitment to their assigned tasks for both the committee and other members of the association.

Ewurum commended the NSCDC boss, Ahmed Audi, for creating a conducive environment that facilitated the initiation of the association, including providing appropriately furnished rented office accommodation.
