The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State, Abdulahi Bello, has slammed the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the November 11 off-cycle election, Dino Melaye, over his call for the cancellation of the poll, News About Nigeria reports.
According to the Kogi APC chairman, Melaye is a political joker with no experience in how elections are won in Nigeria.
Bello, who said this in an interview with The Punch, also alleged that the PDP candidate was making the call for the cancellation of the last governorship election because he did not participate in the poll.
“How could Dino be calling for the cancellation of an election he never participated in? You see, there are political jokers who somersaulted into politics, who think they can do anything and get away with it. Dino is one of them.”
Bello also explained that it is not justifiable to cancel an election in a state that has 239 wards over an issue in one ward, as the PDP candidate is demanding.
According to him, Melaye went against the law, which states that, for a person to be qualified to be governor, you must vote and be voted for in an election because he didn’t vote in the last election.
The APC chieftain also stated that he assumed that Dino, who was a legislator and had served in the green and red chambers, would have garnered a lot of electoral experience, but he “is empty.”
He further alleged that Dino was not prepared for the election, which is why he failed and has now resorted to blackmail of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the APC.
