The Kaduna State House of Assembly has officially confirmed the appointment of Jerry Adams as the substantive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS).
News About Nigeria reports that the announcement was made by Speaker Yusuf Dahiru Leeman on Wednesday, following thorough deliberations by the lawmakers.
After presenting his profile and outlining his plans to impact the lives of the people and the state through KADIRS, Adams was commended by the lawmakers who asked him to take a bow and leave.
Speaking to journalists after his confirmation, Adams pledged to enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
He highlighted that Kaduna State ranked second among northern states after Abuja in terms of IGR, generating N58 billion last year, trailing behind N68 billion.
“Kaduna currently, as of last year, generated N58 billion trending behind N68 billion.
“We are currently working on the IGR where Kaduna State will be less dependent, noting that is the major objective of the board at the moment,” he said.
Adams emphasised the agency’s current focus on reducing the state’s dependence on external sources, marking a significant objective for KADIRS.
This confirmation follows the recent intervention of the Kaduna State House of Assembly in the legislative affairs of Kagarko Local Government Area.
The assembly suspended eight councillors indefinitely, citing their involvement in the improper impeachment of Nasara Rabo, the Council Chairman.
The suspension was attributed to violations of due process and office conduct, especially regarding the allegations of fund misappropriation against the chairman.
The eight affected councillors are Danjuma Padalo, Iddah Ward; Adamu Abdulaziz, Kagarko South Ward; Livinus Makama, Aribi Ward; and Samson Hazo, Katugal Ward.
Others are Amos Egoh, Kushe Ward; Idris Abubakar, Jere North Ward; Zakaria Musa, Kukui Ward; and Rabo Musa, Kurmin Jibrin Ward.
