APC Impoverished Nigerians – PDP National Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has kicked against the judgment of the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja which sacked the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang.

News About Nigeria had reported that a three-member panel led by Justice Elfrieda Williams-Dawodu nullified the election of Mutfwang and declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muntawe Goshwe as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said it was disgusted by a viral video where an APC leader, Yusuf Gagdi, who is a member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State, boasted that they know people in the Supreme Court.

In the video, the House of Representatives member insinuated that the APC will be victorious in the Supreme Court because of who they know.

According to Ologunagba, Gagdi’s statement confirmed the suspicion that the APC had allegedly set up a special team to compromise the judiciary.

The PDP publicity secretary also alleged that the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel snatched the victories won by their candidates in the National Assembly elections in the state and awarded the same to APC candidates.

He, therefore, called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, to probe Gagdi’s claim about the APC having persons in the Supreme Court who will do their bidding and to also investigate the corruption and bribery allegations against the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel.

Ologunagba also noted that the probe by the CJN is essential in order to ensure that the judiciary remains the last line of defence for Nigeria’s democracy and political stability.
