Man Arraigned For Stealing Employer’s Clothes, Stabilisers, Other Items

A 24-year-old man, identified as Jackson Clinton, was on Friday, been arraigned by men of the Lagos State Police Command before a Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, for grand theft.

News About Nigeria gathered that Clinton was arrested for allegedly burgling and stealing properties belonging to his employer in the Gbagada area of the state and was arraigned before Magistrate Linda Balogun on two counts bordering on burgling and stealing.

The suspect was accused of stealing various items from his employer, such as 10 schoolbags, which were worth N35,500, four compressors worth N200,000, a horsepower air conditioner valued at N300,000, three bags of clothes worth N88,000, three stabilisers worth N120,000, and expensive wines, among other things.

According to the police prosecutor, Çhekwube Okeh, the defendant committed the crime in September 2023 at Plot 15 Ramitu Oluwakemu Street, Medina Estate, Ifako, in the Gbagada area of the state.

He made this known while making a brief for Haruna Magajiat the court.

Okeh stated that the defendant, who was hired as a sales boy by one Igbaboa Dolly, broke into the employer’s store through the roof with the help of accomplices and stole all her properties during the night.

He also noted that the charges against the defendant are in violation of Sections 309 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him and was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 and required two responsible sureties in like sum, following his plea.

The case was adjourned for mention on December 15.
