A Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has sentenced a 65-year-old landlord, Igwe Ambrose, to double life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his tenant’s children, News About Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed in a post shared on the X account of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on Monday.

According to the statement, the landlord committed the offences at Shagari Estate, Ipaja, between January and June 2021.

The landlord reportedly defiled the little children when he was pretending to be teaching them their assignments.

Ambrose, who was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child, was found guilty of inserting his fingers into the private parts of his tenant children, aged seven and 11 years old, respectively.

The judge, Abiola Soladoye, while delivering the judgement, described Ambrose as a “dirty old man” for defiling the children.

He also held that the landlord was a paedophile who fingered and touched the breasts of the survivors while pretending to be helping them with their school assignments.

The court also ruled that the testimonies of the survivors (the children) were credible, as they could not consent to being fingered by the landlord if it never happened.

The judge therefore sentenced the landlord to life imprisonment for count one and count two each, while counts three and four carried seven years jail term each.

The statement also disclosed that Ambrose’s name will registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.
