A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has lauded the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his role in ensuring that organized labour suspended its nationwide strike.
In a post on his official X account, Reno also noted that the NSA is the greatest human asset in Tinubu’s administration.
His post reads, ‘The Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress suspended the nationwide strike. May God bless the National Security Adviser. Malam Nuhu Ribadu is the greatest human resource asset in the Tinubu administration.’
News About Nigeria reported that the National Executive Council of the unions suspended the strike, which commenced on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, on Wednesday night.
The suspension of the strike came after a meeting between labour leaders and government representatives, Ribadu and the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, at the Office of the NSA on Wednesday.
The NSA also announced that it had arrested the suspects responsible for the brutalization of the NLC President, Joe Ajaero.
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, was brutalized in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on the 1st of November, 2023, when, together with other labour members, they went to protest the non-payment of salaries of workers and pensioners.
Following Ajaero’s attack, organized labour embarked on a nationwide strike to protest against the brutalization of the NLC chairman.
The labour unions added that another reason for the strike was the failure of the federal government to implement most of the agreements it reached with the workers and the FG’s ‘anti-poor people’s policies’ against workers.
