The Kogi State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, on Saturday, alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, tampered with the result sheets in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state, News About Nigeria reports.
According to the former Kogi Senator, the result sheets have been prefilled in all the polling units located in Ogori/Magongo local government area of the state.
Melaye, who said this in a short video he posted on his social media page, alleged that INEC is working to frustrate the efforts of electorates who trooped out in their mass to vote for their candidate.
He further alleged that protests erupted in the units as the voters refused to be accredited, insisting that the already filled result sheets should be made available for the electorate in the area.
In his own words, “There is a massive protest in all polling units in Ogori/Mangogo local government of Kogi State right now.
“The result sheets have been filled and tampered with already, and people have refused to accredit, people have refused to vote and they are insisting that the plain result sheets must be returned to agents in accordance with the electoral law.”
The former Kogi Senator also commended the people of the area for coming out to vote and for standing for their rights regardless of the malpractice perpetrated by the INEC.
He further urged them to resist any form of malpractice that would result in them having a governor they didn’t vote for, charging them that if INEC officials refuse to show them the result sheets, they should protest and not vote.
Dino also charged them to protect their votes and to ensure that all electoral regulations and guidelines are followed and respected.
