Governor Hope Uzodinma has commended the massive turnout of voters in the Imo governorship elections today, News About Nigeria reports.

The governor, who won the polling unit in the government house, stated that the turnout was impressive and better than that of the February 25 elections.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit (032), Omuma Community in Oru East Local Government Area of the state, Governor Hope Uzidimma noted that there were no security breaches in the governorship election conducted in the state.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for discharging its duty with integrity and utmost professionalism, noting that the electoral commission rose to the occasion and ensured the elections went on fine.

He further stated that there were no threats of violence throughout the voting exercise and that the election was peaceful and successful. This is despite violence is some parts of the states as seen on social media.

The governor also commended the efforts of security agents in ensuring that order and decorum were maintained throughout the exercise.

He noted that a large number of security operatives were deployed ahead of the poll, and the operatives did well contrary to the ugly expectation that the environment would not be conducive for voting to take place.

The governor, however, accused opposition parties of sponsoring and financing mischief, banditry, and other forms of atrocities.

According to him, the patriotic citizens of Imo State are desirous of having Imo State blossom.

The governor added that whatever God approves will be announced by INEC at the end of the election.
