PDP Holds Reconciliation Meeting In Enugu, Seeks Unity

The Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State, on Friday, debunked the rumours circulating that its governorship candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, has left the governorship race and stepped down for Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, News About Nigeria reports.

Anyanwu, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ikenna Onuoha, on Friday, dispelled the news as fake and urged his supporters not to pay any heed to it.

Recall that a viral video had circulated on the internet, claiming that Anyanwu had left the race and thrown his weight behind Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Anyanwu also noted that the said video was a blatant lie and a mischievous, misleading, and ridiculous claim.

According to him, the video was a senselessly vile fabrication by the outgoing Governor Uzodimma to deceive the public.

He further noted that the video was criminally edited and superimposed by Governor Hope Uzidimma and his cohorts to suit his party’s tendencies.

He called on all PDP faithful in Imo State to disregard the video, terming it as falsehood, maintaining that he would never withdraw from the Governorship Race and has no intention of doing so, especially as he has almost won the election.

The spokesperson for Anyanwu, Ikenna Onuoha, noted that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the candidate of the PDP, is a significant threat to Uzodimma, who he claimed has become dried both physically and spiritually.

He further stated that no amount of blackmail and empty propaganda could save Uzodimma from the looming defeat on Saturday.

He maintained that Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains a candidate to beat in this election, reiterating that the senator is prominently in the race and will never think of withdrawing from a contest where over 70 per cent of observers have marked him as the likely winner.
