Following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Bola Tinubu’s election, Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has affirmed that the party is now a viable opposition.

On Monday, the former Anambra State governor spoke during a news conference in Abuja.

Obi stated that the LP became an effective opposition owing to its ideas and governance modalities that it campaigned for before the 2023 presidential election.

He emphasised the need to lower the cost of governance, shift the nation’s focus from consumption to production, lower inflation, end insecurity, promote the rule of law, ensure the obligation to protect citizens and stabilise the Nigerian currency.

“Going forward, we in the Labour Party and the Obidient Movement are now effectively in opposition,” Obi noted.

He also stated further that he is happy that the nation has heard the Labour Party and its supporters.

News About Nigeria reports that Peter Obi affirms further that the Labour Party and its supporters will now go out to the rest of the nation with a message of optimism.

He assured Nigerians that the party would meet individuals where they are suffering and provide them with the hope they need and carry, as well as transmit the message of a new Nigeria in vehicle parks, town halls, board rooms, university and college campuses while ensuring that Labour party stick to its manifesto.

Iterating further, Peter stated that he would keep advocating for sound government and concentrating on issues that advance the unity, cohesiveness, and interests of the country.

“A robust political opposition is vital in light of the current state of our nation. Peter Obi clarified during the World Press Conference.

“We shall, therefore, remain in opposition, particularly because of the policies and the governance modalities that we in the Labour Party campaigned for.”
