The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Saturday, apologised to the people of the state over the recent political crisis in the state, News About Nigeria reports.
In a statement signed by the Governor, he noted that peace is priceless, and he regrets the crisis that has disrupted the peace of the state in the last few days.
According to Fubara, no sacrifice is too much for him to make for the state and it is the collective responsibility of himself and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to use their positions to advance the progress, security and well-being of the people.
He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his intervention which has helped in the resolution of the conflicts, noting that he is a man of peace and his primary concern is to restore peace to the state.
Governor Fubara thanked the people of the state for their continued support in these times, noting that they have been a major source of inspiration through the crisis.
He further charged them to not allow the challenges retard their efforts towards achieving greatness for the state, as the crisis are just temporary.
According to the governor, he is willing and ready to embrace the path to lasting peace in line with the efforts of the President, other governors and well-meaning Nigerians.
He, therefore, assured the people of the state that peace would certainly prevail, noting that his administration would continue to work tirelessly towards the growth and advancement of the state in all ramifications.
