The Federal Government has revealed that in order to carry out comprehensive repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge, some sections of it will be closed for five weeks, News About Nigeria reports.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Engr. (Mrs.) O. I. Kesha.
According to her, the repair works will begin with the ramps connecting Oworoshoki to Adekunle and Lagos- Island (Adeniji Adele ) to Adekunle simultaneously.
Keisha further revealed that the ramps will be closed to traffic by 7 a.m. from Monday, 6th November 2023, for the next 5 weeks.
She, therefore, charged motorists to cooperate with the traffic management officials by obeying and observing all diversions as directed, encouraging them to use the alternative routes as attached.
She further explained that officers would be deployed at all diversion routes for effective monitoring, management and control during the 5-week repair period.
In her words, “Motorists are, therefore, advised to cooperate with the traffic management officials by obeying and observing all diversions as directed. They are encouraged to use the alternative routes.
“Consequently, the two ramps mentioned above will be closed to traffic by 7 a.m. on Monday for five weeks,” she added.
Kesha also disclosed that tow trucks and vehicles would also be available for prompt and swift removal of distressed vehicles and trucks.
She also advised motorists who will be coming from Iyana-Oworo on the mainland and going to Adekunle to avoid the Third Mainland Bridge and use alternative routes.
Also, she explained that the ones coming from the island on the Adeniji side going to Adekunle should use alternative routes because there will not be access to Adekunle.
