Imo NLC Protest: Ajaero To Undergo Ophthalmic Investigation, Brain Scan

A brain scan and Ophthalmic investigation have been recommended for Joe Ajaero, National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

This is in response to Ajaero’s injuries following an attack during a rally demonstration in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, by police and alleged hired goons.

In response to the state government’s supposed insensitivity to the condition of workers in the state, NLC planned a protest march in Owerri on Wednesday.

He was ambushed and physically hurt by some thugs just before the protest started, along with some union leaders.

Police officers quickly escorted him to their facilities following the assault.

The state government, according to the NLC leadership, was responsible for the attack, which was allegedly overseen by the state commissioner of police.

News About Nigeria gathered that in response to the NLC’s president’s arrest, Amnesty International warned that it is illegal to arrest Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress.

The rights group denounced the union leader’s detention in a tweet sent from its official account, claiming that it was illegal and that it demonstrated the government’s hostility towards free speech.

The NLC media section provided an update on Ajaero’s attack, stating that he is now wearing a neck collar.

“Congress President Joe Ajaero has been referred for ophthalmic investigation, a head/brain scan, a full body scan, and cervical spine therapy, among other investigations.

“He is now wearing a neck collar that has wheels all over it”, stated Benson Upah, head of the information unit.
