FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has promised to fight to the death to save his political system and standing in Rivers.
The former governor of Rivers made this statement after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee and governors elected on the party’s platform convened in Abuja on Tuesday.
“Threats are something I will never tolerate, as everyone who knows me well knows. I won’t agree, as you know.
“Let heaven descend if it wills so that everyone can rest,” Wike remarked.
“Let’s get things right. It is political for them to deliver N20 billion each month.
“But during my conflict, no one stated this. Accuse me if you would want. I don’t think I’ll even have insomnia because I think the correct thing has to be done.”
Nigeria About Nigeria gathered that in the ongoing political clash between him and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Governor Wike’s latest decision on Tuesday appeared to contradict President Bola Tinubu’s peace initiative.
“Internal squabbling is common in politics. However, you won’t claim that they won’t resolve among themselves since there is a great deal of internal strife.
“I served as the tool. At that time, I was fully capable of directing where things should go,” Wike said to reporters.
“You ask questions when something isn’t right. It is a party affair. I do not perceive any threat. All I’ll say is the truth and nothing else.”
“It’s a party affair and the party knows how they resolve their own mechanism. It’s not an ethnic issue.
“Our party is investigating. That’s all I’m going to say. Every politician has his or her own set of interests. I won’t go into specifics. We are all one,” Wike further asserted.
Rivers House of Assembly legislators, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, who are supporters of Wike, have begun impeachment procedures against Fubara and suspended the majority leader, Ehie Edison.
The attempt, however, was halted when Amaewhule was impeached and Edison, the suspended majority leader, was chosen to take his place.
