Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, expressed hope on Wednesday that he and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, would be able to reconcile their political differences.
He emphasised that any problems, if any, will be overcome and stated that it is OK for a father and son to experience difficulties.
The governor said this when General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, brought a military team to Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
News About Nigeria reports that Fubara reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring national security and tranquillity, particularly during this month’s off-season elections.
The governor said, “For our dear state, I know everybody is wondering what’s going on, what’s not going on. We are okay, there is no problem.
“If we have an internal issue, it will be resolved and everything will go back to normal.
“There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem if there is a problem, but I don’t think there is anything, whatever it is, will definitely resolve the issue.”
Rivers State has been in the news since after moves by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara resulted in turbulence in the state on Monday, as the governor’s loyalists stormed the Assembly complex in protest against the plot.
Some have accused the FCT Minister Wike of being behind the crisis in the state.
The House members subsequently fled the Assembly Complex for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex amid the crisis on Monday.
Amid the political uproar, some youths and political thugs were arrested.
