Biafra Group Advocates Recognition For Igbo Apprenticeship Scheme

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) charged the Federal Government on Friday to stop addressing them as terrorists.

News About Nigeria recalls that Justice Abdul Kafarati had, on September 20, 2017, granted an ex parte order proscribing IPOB as a ‘terrorist’ organization.

In a statement, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, disclosed that the Federal Government has refused to appear at the Appeal Court to defend their proscription order.

According to him, the order has been appealed at the Appeal Court since 2018 by their legal team, but the Federal Government keeps using a ‘slow and warped’ justice system to frustrate its hearing.

Powerful said, ‘Ever since the IPOB’s proscription was appealed, the Federal Government and her compromised judges have been running away from meeting the IPOB legal team in their court.

‘The Federal Government and her courts are running while the IPOB legal team awaits them in the court to continue what they started.’

He further stated that, together with their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he wondered why the Federal Government is running away from defending their ‘black market’ proscription of IPOB before the Appeal Court.”

Powerful also stated that IPOB is a peaceful movement seeking the restoration of Biafra, noting that, since its formation, they have organized peaceful rallies across the world, particularly in Biafra territories.

According to him, IPOB has never been a body that breeds hate, so they are not terrorists.

He, therefore, charged the Federal Government to desist from portraying them as terrorists since they have refused to show up in the Court after the appeal they filed in 2018.
