Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has established a seven-member investigative committee to look into various matters concerning the state College of Education (Technical), News About Nigeria gathered.

This move comes in response to allegations of mismanagement and corrupt administrative practices within the college’s administration and its Governing Council.

The committee’s terms of reference, as outlined in a statement from the governor’s media office on Thursday, include probing allegations of financial misconduct related to Bluetag Technologies, a financial firm tasked with fee collection for the college, with unresolved issues involving over N84 million.

Additionally, the committee will investigate claims of an improper recruitment process and the subsequent increase in the college’s monthly subvention.

Their objective is to provide recommendations based on their findings to address the concerns raised in a petition to the government.

The committee, inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, at the Government House, is led by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah.

Other members include Onuora Okeke, Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, Reverend Father Ikechukwu Ani, Dr. Emma Onyeabor, Edmund Ngene, and Larry Oguego.

The committee was tasked with conducting a thorough investigation and delivering appropriate recommendations.

Prof. Chidiebere Onyia emphasised the importance of a comprehensive examination and recommendations that could enhance the teaching and learning processes in Enugu, making them world-class.

“It is our hope that members of this committee will bring to bear their experiences in carrying out this assignment and providing the right type of recommendations to the governor so that our teaching and learning process and model in Enugu will be world-class.

“So this committee is supposed to dig deep and unravel the issues surrounding all these allegations and provide recommendations based on your findings,” he said.

The committee, under the leadership of Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, assured that they would carry out their duties diligently and submit their report within two weeks.
