Modou Dodou Adams, a 25-year-old British model and TikToker, has been apprehended in Peru for attempting to smuggle approximately 2.9 kilograms (6.4 pounds) of cocaine to London, News About Nigeria reports.

Peruvian authorities detected the illicit substances concealed in a suitcase. Adams was taken into custody at the Jorge Chávez International Airport, located north of Lima, on September 30.

He was en route to Paris, France, with his final destination set for London, England, according to a statement issued by the Supreme Court.

The police released footage of the luggage search, which shows an officer cutting open a hidden compartment within the bag. A white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine, was found.

In the video, Adams appeared shocked by the incident as the officer unveiled the concealed drugs.

In an official statement, the Peruvian State declared, “The British citizen was intervened… when he was transporting toxic drugs in the structure of his suitcase bound for Paris – France to be sent to the final destination of London – United Kingdom.

“During the police intervention, the checked baggage of the suspect was opened, inside which clothing was found, and a package was seen on the back of the suitcase into which a metal punch was inserted to extract the drugs.”

Just four days before his arrest, Adams had posted photos on his Instagram account, where he has more than 11,000 followers, depicting his visit to the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes.

During a court hearing, an interpreter assisted Adams in understanding the proceedings. He pleaded guilty to ‘illicit trafficking in toxic drugs, to the detriment of the Peruvian State, for having coordinated the shipment of 2.898 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride destined for London’, as stated by the Peruvian State.

Judge Renee Quispe Silva sentenced Adams to six years and eight months in prison and ordered him to pay 6,500 thousand soles (£1,368) as civil reparation to the Peruvian State.

The court further imposed a fine of 1,281 soles (£271) payable to the Public Treasury. Peru’s Supreme Court released an edited image on social media showing Adams behind bars.
