Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) star Venita Akpofure’s ex-husband, Terna Tarka, has addressed the controversial narrative claiming that TIV men give their wives to their guests for pleasure.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Tarka categorically debunked this narrative and expressed that such a practice does not occur among TIV men.
News About Nigeria reports that he emphasised that he never engaged in such activities during his marriage to Venita.
“I am here to address a very controversial narrative making rounds on social media. This is regarding a statement saying that when TIV men house guests, they give their wives out to these men for pleasure.
“Speaking as a proud TIV man who was born into one of the most prominent families. I would like to categorically state that in all my years of hosting my guests, even the thought of such a derogatory practice has never crossed my mind.
“So, therefore, such a thing never occurred in my marriage. I speak on behalf of all TIV men when I say that such a practice does not happen.”
The controversial statement first gained attention during Venita’s time in the Big Brother Naija All Stars season which wrapped up on October 1.
Following her eviction from the reality show, Venita issued a public apology for her remarks, which had drawn criticism from various quarters, including the apex Tiv socio-cultural organisation.
Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State, had even threatened legal action against her.
While Terna Tarka’s video comes a month after Venita’s apology, some social media users have criticised him for revisiting the issue, accusing him of chasing clout.
