The United States chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a warning to the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) USA, cautioning them against proceeding with their planned press conference concerning the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic certificate from Chicago State University.
The APC USA claimed that the school had already confirmed the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate.
News About Nigeria reports that the warning came in response to an announcement made two days earlier by David Adenekan, the Publicity Secretary of NADECO USA.
Adenekan revealed that the group intended to hold a world press conference at Chicago City Hall on Monday at 9:45 a.m. The objective was to provide journalists and the international community with an opportunity to investigate and gain more clarity on the alleged CSU certificate forgery by the President.
In response to these plans, the Chairman of APC USA, Prof. Tai Balofin, condemned the move, describing it as a smokescreen designed to vilify the President.
Balofin emphasised that Chicago State University had already addressed the allegations by confirming the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate.
Furthermore, Balofin criticised NADECO USA, which he labelled as a phoney group, for discussing a matter that was already in court.
He said, “The allegation surrounding President Tinubu’s educational certificate from Chicago State University has been addressed, with CSU confirming the certificate’s authenticity. It is crucial to note that this matter is already in the hands of the appropriate authorities, specifically the courts, where due process and legal procedures will be followed.”
The statement from APC USA urged the supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar to await the outcome of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
It also clarified that the group organising the press conference under the NADECO USA banner was not the original NADECO that President Tinubu was a part of during the Abacha era.
The leadership of APC USA expressed its firm stance against any attempts to undermine the reputation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and, by extension, Nigeria.
They emphasised their belief in democratic processes and the judicial system to address legitimate concerns, encouraging the group associated with NADECO USA to engage in constructive dialogue and allow the legal system to handle any genuine issues.
