Nigerian media personality and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tacha, has criticised singer Davido for what she considers an ‘insincere’ apology to Phyna after a social media incident.
News About Nigeria reported that Davido mistakenly liked a tweet that appeared to be shading Phyna. When Phyna pointed this out, he apologised to her but added that he didn’t know who she was.
Tacha came to Phyna’s defence, assuring her that even if Davido didn’t know her, God and many people do.
Davido responded by liking a tweet that indirectly shaded Tacha. The tweet questioned Tacha’s involvement in supporting Phyna, given that she has a tattoo of Davido on her chest.
In a recent video posted on her social media page, Tacha criticised Davido for what she views as an insincere apology. She argued that an honest mistake was made, and Davido should have either genuinely apologised or ignored the incident instead of making a statement like “I don’t know you.”
Tacha further pointed out that when comedian AY made a joke about Davido that some people found offensive, he apologised despite his celebrity status.
She encouraged Davido to learn from this and handle such situations with more sensitivity.
She said; “An honest mistake was made and you say it was an honest mistake. You don’t make an honest mistake, apologise and then still try to bring the person down. It’s just like hitting someone on the road, saying sorry and still asking why the person didn’t say at home.
“If you are apologizing, apologise. You don’t apologise and set someone up for more drags. Considering that you are a celebrity, you understand what goes on, you know how online bullying is, you know people attack people unprovoked.
“It was on this same social media that AY made a joke, an honest joke that some people found funny and some people didn’t find funny. At the end of the day, he came out and apologised, with how big AY is.
“You even dropped a comment and everybody was happy. Apologise and keep it moving or you don’t want to say nothing, totally ignore it.
“But you said it’s an honest mistake and then tagged it with ‘I don’t know you’. How does that sound to you?”
