On Wednesday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the $100 million Lagos Film City.
The Film City, spanning a vast 100-hectare plot of land located in the Epe Local Government district’s Ikosi-Ejinrin area, is established as a Public-Private Partnership model.
Its purpose is to create numerous job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and attract investments.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, took to his official Twitter account on October 18, 2023, to share this development.
“Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today performed the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the $100 million Lagos Film City, situated on a 100-hectare land area at Ikosi-Ejinrin area of Epe Local Government,” Jubril’s post reads.
This event comes less than two weeks after Governor Sanwo-Olu initially announced that the Lagos Film City’s groundbreaking ceremony would take place before the end of October.
News About Nigeria gathered that the project is being undertaken in collaboration with several well-known figures in the entertainment industry, including Ebonylife Academy, Delyork, and Ogidi Studios, as noted in the media assistant’s post.
“The Public Private Partnership-Model Lagos Film City will create numerous job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and attract investment. It will be a hub for film production, visual effects, scripting, cinematography, editing, photography, and all the ancillary services that support the filmmaking process.
“This project is in collaboration with various notable players in the entertainment sector like Ebonylife Academy, Delyork, and Ogidi Studios,” the media aide’s post adds.
