Nigerian comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, cried out for help on Wednesday regarding his medical condition.

In a now-viral video shared on Instagram, the veteran actor disclosed that he has been battling an illness from a hospital bed for several weeks and has been on admission.

The actor also revealed that doctors have advised that they might amputate his leg if other treatment options do not yield positive results.

He said, “While I am hoping for prayers and assistance, I am currently confined to this hospital bed. The medical director of this hospital has indicated that if his new treatment plan does not work, the next step may involve amputating my leg. Imagine if they were to cut off my leg, where would I go? Please pray for me. I do not want to lose my leg. Thank you so much, and may God bless you.”

In the video, the veteran actor’s wife and daughter also appealed to Nigerians to pray for them and provide financial assistance.

Jasmine Okafor, Ibu’s daughter, mentioned that she has been managing the hospital bills for as long as her father has been unwell. She also stated that the family is hoping to transport him abroad for better treatment, as his condition is not improving.

She said, “We are still at the hospital, and they want to transfer him to another medical facility because he is not getting better. We appeal to Nigerian individuals and organizations to please help us send daddy abroad for better treatment. This is not the first time he has been in this condition.”

News About Nigeria reported that the actor celebrated his 62nd birthday on Tuesday, October 17, while he was still in the hospital.

Additionally, Ibu’s daughter shared a post on Instagram, expressing her heartbreak at seeing her father spend a “joyous” day in the hospital instead of at home.
