Police Confirm Abduction Of Four Nasarawa University Students

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed a recent attack by gunmen in a community located in the Keffi Local Government Area of the state, News About Nigeria reported.

During the attack, four students from the state’s university were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, officially confirmed the incident.

According to Nansel, the abduction of the students took place in the early hours of Tuesday at Angwan Ka’are within the LGA.

Nansel stated that the Commissioner of Police for the state, Maiyaki Baba, has ordered a thorough manhunt to locate and rescue the victims safely.

He reported, “The command is aware of the kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress call was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare in Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men.

“The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescuing the four victims unhurt.”

The kidnapped students have been identified as Rahila Hanya, a 100-level student of the Science Laboratory Technology department; Josephine Gershon, a Computer Science 100-level student; Rosemary Samuel, a 100-level student of Business Administration; and Goodness Samuel, a 100-level student of the Geography department.

In response to the incident, the university’s Information and Protocol Officer, Comrade Abraham Ekpo, revealed that the institution had not received any official information regarding the incident.

He mentioned that until the Student Union Government (SUG) or the police formally reported the incident, the university could not issue a statement.
