Music executive, Samklef, has revealed why his former record label boss Banky W and other industry heavyweights have remained silent concerning Mohbad’s death.

According to Samklef, many of them are aware of their own involvement in cancel culture, although their actions were not as extreme as Naira Marley’s.

News About Nigeria reports that Samklef specifically mentioned his experience with Banky W, alleging that Banky W initiated his personal cancel culture with the assistance of a friend who worked at Soundcity.

He said that Banky W wanted to cancel his music career in 2012 because of the pressure and violence he was facing.

Samklef also said that the music industry is full of violence and that many artistes are afraid to speak out for fear of being blacklisted.

He called on fellow artists to share their genuine experiences and urged them not to hesitate in doing so.

“Banky w The individual who initiated my personal cancel culture! 2012 And one of his friend in Soundcity…he is now a pastor lol. Fellow artists, it’s time to share your genuine experiences! Don’t hesitate!

“The reason many of them remain quiet about this matter is that they are aware of their own involvement. They where not just violent like naira Marley!”

In a recent development, Mohbad’s former record label boss Naira Marley has been taken into police custody.

The announcement was made by Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin in a tweet.

Naira Marley himself confirmed the development, sharing that he is cooperating with the police in their investigation into Mohbad’s death.
