Former Arsenal goalkeeper, Josh Vickers, has lost his wife, Laura, to cancer just three months after their wedding earlier this year, News About Nigeria understands.

In a heartfelt message accompanied by a picture of the couple on their wedding day, Vickers expressed his grief and admiration for his late wife.

He wrote, “I have written and unwritten this so many times and still can’t find the right words to say and don’t know if I ever will. On Tuesday evening my wife lost her long battle against cancer… Laura is the strongest, bravest and most loving person I have ever met.”

Vickers admitted that despite her battle with cancer, Laura remained positive, always wearing a smile, “Even though everything she was going through, she continued to smile, never letting anything get in the way of having a good time and making a lifetime of memories.

“We have cried, laughed and danced our way through some tough times,” he revealed.

He also expressed his belief that Laura would continue to inspire him, saying, “I know that you will be looking down on me and continuing to inspire me every day.”

Vickers took the moment to thank everyone who had supported him and both families during this time. He expressed gratitude for his family and friends, saying, “Truly fortunate to have the most amazing family and friends! I Love You Always and forever.”

Josh Vickers began his football career at Arsenal’s Academy but later left for loan spells to clubs like Canvey Island and Concord Rangers. In 2015, he signed with Swansea City and had a loan spell with Barnet in 2016.
