Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, professionally known as Kizz Daniel, has shared the reasons behind his introverted nature, shedding light on his struggles with socialisation as a result of childhood bullying.

News About Nigeria reports that Kizz Daniel made these revelations during a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, hosted by Adesope Olajide.

Discussing his experiences growing up, he said being overweight led to him being bullied and ridiculed by other children in his neighbourhood.

The ‘Cough’ hitmaker explained that the taunts and mockery he faced during his childhood had a profound impact on his self-esteem.

He revealed that he became introverted, choosing to stay indoors to escape the harsh treatment he received from his peers.

“I have built a world of my own in my head since I was little. Because growing up, I was a fat kid. I was chubby. So, I don’t go out because the kids in the area make fun of me. They called me orobo (someone who is fat). And they bullied me. So I always stay indoors.”

As he grew older and began to shed weight, Kizz Daniel found it challenging to reintegrate into social settings.

The singer confessed that he had lost touch with social skills and struggled to communicate and socialise with others.

“During that time that I always stayed indoors, I’d already built this fantasy world in my head. In the world that I have built in my head, I’m very comfortable in that space.

“So, I reintroduced myself to the world after I lost weight; I lost all forms of social skills. I don’t know how to communicate. I don’t know how to socialize with people.”

In the interview, Kizz Daniel also disclosed that, at times, he turns to alcohol to cope with social anxiety and the difficulties associated with engaging in public interactions.
