Shehu Sani Reacts As Devastating Earthquake Hits Morocco

Former Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the devastating earthquake that hit the North African nation, Morocco on Saturday.

News About Nigeria recalls that over 1,000 citizens were reported to have died in the earthquake that hit Morocco in the early hours of Saturday.

The development had forced the country to postpone its qualifying game for the African Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football and Moroccan Football Federation announced that the game has been postponed indefinitely. Morocco was supposed to play Liberia in Agadir on the country’s western coast.

Late on Friday night, there was an earthquake. From Atlas Mountain communities to the ancient city of Marrakech, it has killed hundreds of people and destroyed hundreds of houses.

However responding to the development in a tweet, Mr Sani who said that nobody would have imagined that the tragic incident would happen urged Nigeria to take lessons and activate its preparedness for such emergencies.

“Nobody would have imagined a devastating earthquake in Morocco,now it http://happened.My thoughts and prayers goes to all the families of the victims.We should take lessons out of this unexpected tragedy and activate our national preparedness for such emergencies. #earthquake #Terremoto #Morocco,” Shehu Sani wrote.

MSF (Doctors Without Borders) has already stated that it is prepared to respond to the earthquake in Morocco that has already claimed more than 1,000 lives and injured countless others.

MSF-USA’s executive director, Avril Benoît, stated in a statement on Saturday that local residents are “key to the initial response” while looking for survivors.
