Popular Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has apologized to Nigerians for following her poor performance in the 2023 World Championship Budapest, on Thursday night, News About Nigeria gathered.

She expressed her regret to all of her worldwide fans for disappointing them with her lackluster performance and promised to bounce back even stronger.

Amusan, who was beaten by Danielle Williams of Jamaica to the world title in the 100-meter hurdles, said that qualifying for the final had been a challenging process.

Despite everything she had been through in the previous several weeks, Amusan admitted in a post-race interview with journalists that it had been quite “a journey getting into the final.”

While admitting that no one enjoys losing, the former champion assured her followers that she will return stronger.

“I Just want to say a huge thank you to those who has been supporting me through the ups and downs, Ya’ll stood by me, kept praying for me, God Bless you all, I am sorry I might have let you all down, but we will back stronger definitely. Yeah, it’s a tough one; nobody likes to lose but considering what I have gone through in the past couple of months, I’m so grateful that I came out,” she said.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, the reigning Olympic champion, finished second in 12.44 seconds, while 30-year-old Williams took first place in Beijing in 2015. American Kendra Harrison finished third in 12.46 seconds.

Amusan, who placed sixth, and 2019 winner Nia Ali, who placed last, were never in contention.

However, Nigerians have continued to commend the athlete despite her unimpressive performance, with many suggesting that her unimpressive run was a result of doping scandals she faced going into the race.
