Legendary former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson has made some bold predictions ahead of the highly anticipated bout between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, News About Nigeria reports.
Tyson is currently training Ngannou for his boxing match against the reigning heavyweight champion Fury, scheduled for October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
While Fury is the overwhelming favourite in this fight, Tyson believes that Ngannou, renowned for his devastating knockouts in the UFC, possesses the power to trouble Fury.
Tyson expressed his confidence in Ngannou, stating, “This guy punches like God knows who, he moves quicker, I’ve worked with his speed. Listen, man, he only has to land one or two.”
Tyson went on to highlight that Fury had been dropped by a smaller opponent, Steve Cunningham, earlier in his career. He emphasized Ngannou’s punching power, claiming, “I think this guy punches harder than anybody he’s ever fought.”
Despite Deontay Wilder’s four knockdowns of Fury in their three fights, none resulted in a knockout. Tyson believes Ngannou will need to adopt an aggressive strategy to achieve victory.
“He just needs to go all-out aggression, punch him to the body, punch him to the head, as we’ve been working with,” Tyson explained.
He further noted Ngannou’s determination and patriotic pride, as he aims to win for his country and people.
Tyson expressed his excitement about the upcoming bout and even suggested that if Ngannou were to secure victory, it would surpass Tyson’s own historic defeat to Buster Douglas as the greatest upset in the history of the sport.
