The immediate past governor of Osun state Adegboyega Oyetola has expressed commitment to his new portfolio as a Minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.
Oyetola, who recently assumed the role of Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has described his appointment as a call to serve Nigeria.
He made these remarks during a reception organized by the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other stakeholders in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Minister Oyetola expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and his appointment to head a new ministry. He conveyed his determination to excel in fulfilling the responsibilities bestowed upon him.
Oyetola thanked the organizers of the reception for their support and solidarity and emphasized the importance of the cooperation and support of all stakeholders to succeed in his new ministry.
“I feel challenged to be made a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because it comes with a lot of responsibilities,” Oyetola stated, acknowledging that his role in the newly established ministry would require him to build it from the ground up.
He expressed his confidence in divine guidance and success in fulfilling his new mandate.
Meanwhile, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the immediate past National Secretary of the APC, expressed optimism that Oyetola would deliver effectively in his new role, describing his appointment as “a round peg in a round hole.”
Chief Bisi Akande, former Interim National Chairman of the APC, also commended Oyetola’s appointment, stating that it was well-deserved and an honor for the people of Osun.
He expressed hope that Oyetola’s tenure would rekindle the people’s hope in the Nigerian project and the leadership of President Tinubu.
Oyetola outlined his vision for a thriving blue economy sector, emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and economic growth.
He expressed the need to harness Nigeria’s abundant marine resources and promote inter-agency cooperation in the maritime sector.
The reception was attended by dignitaries including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, traditional rulers, members of the Osun House of Assembly and diplomats, to show their for Oyetola as he embarks on his new role in the Nigerian government.
