Inter Miami’s forward Lionel Messi has openly shared his perspective on his transition from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami, News About Nigeria reports.
The famous footballer spent two seasons with PSG following his departure from Barcelona, before making his move to the MLS club.
Since joining Inter Miami, the 36-year-old has made a notable impact, scoring nine goals in just six appearances. Speaking to local media in Miami, Messi reflected on the contrasting experiences of his recent career shifts.
Messi acknowledged the challenges he faced during his time at PSG, describing the move as something he didn’t desire initially.
He expressed that leaving Barcelona, a club he had been part of for years, was not a decision he wanted to make abruptly. Adapting to a new city and a different sporting environment clearly proved to be a test for the football star.
Messi said: “As I said at the time, my departure to Paris was not something I wanted, it was not something I wanted to leave Barcelona and, so to speak, it was from one day to the next.
“And, well, I also had to get used to a place that was totally different from where I had been living all my life, both in terms of the city and in a sporting sense, and, well, it was difficult, but the opposite of what is happening to me now here,” the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner added.
Messi’s move to Inter Miami is said to mark a new chapter in his career, while also offering him the opportunity to immerse himself in a fresh environment, potentially leading to a more positive and fulfilling experience than that of PSG.
