Former Anambra governor and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party at the February 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi has charged Nigerian youths to remain steadfast and positive for a new Nigeria that is to come, News About Nigeria reports.
Encouraging Nigerian youths in celebration of World Youth’s Day, the former Anambra governor encouraged the Nigerian youth population not to be discouraged by the current economic challenges currently bedeviling the country in a tweet on Saturday evening.
“On this day that the global community celebrates the youths, known as World Youth Day, I urge Nigerian youths to remain steadfast, positive and hopeful for the coming of a New Nigeria that will be anchored on youth development and productivity. The current political confusion and economic challenges in our nation should not discourage our youths, but instead, motivate them to remain committed and resolute in the struggle for a new and better Nigeria,” Peter Obi said.
His comments come as he seeks to lay claim to the February 2023 presidential election victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Obi and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar are both contesting the outcome of the 2023 presidential election that saw Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress emerge as the country’s president.
Obi who was the running mate of Atiku Abubakar at the 2019 presidential election shooked the country’s political space in the buildup to the 2023 general election. The former Anambra governor’s supporter base increased after he announced his intention to run for the country’s presidency seat on the platform of the Labour Party.
