Chelsea is reportedly the frontrunner in the move to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo, News About Nigeria understands.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has been holding talks with Brighton over the tactical midfielder for weeks, even though no concrete agreement has been reached so far.
“Chelsea are working hard on Moisés Caicedo deal. Talks have been taking place for weeks. Nothing done yet.
The transfer market expert also stated that Chelsea has been informed of Caicedo’s intentions to leave Brighton if he gets better offers elsewhere.
“Chelsea know well that Caicedo has a pact with de Zerbi since February: in case important proposal arrives, he will leave the club,” noting that the “Blues are really pushing on Moisés as important target.”
“It has always been Chelsea frontrunners despite rumours of Arsenal bid in the last weeks. Arsenal’s focus remains on Declan Rice and Havertz,” he added.
The West London club is currently handicapped in its midfield, especially with the imminent departure of the club’s brick wall, N’Golo Kante to Saudi Arabia.
The team is also on the verge of losing its creative midfielder Mateo Kovacic to title-hungry Manchester City this summer, having lost Jorginho to Arsenal last season.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has equally been linked to a Seria A move. With all the rambling, the embattled Chelsea side is expected to hit the summer window for midfielders like Caicedo who can almost pose as a perfect replacement for Kante, while lending support for the club’s new signing and Argentine Star, Enzo Fernandez.
