The organizers of the prestigious African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have come under fire for allegedly consistently overlooking talented Asaba-based actors, including Yul Edochie, Junior Pope, and Destiny Etiko, during their annual award ceremonies.

Disappointed Nigerians took to social media platforms to express their discontent with the AMVCA, criticizing them for failing to recognize these actors despite showcasing their movies on their platforms.

The controversy emerged in the wake of the recently concluded 9th edition of the AMVCA, which was held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos over the weekend. News About Nigeria reports.

The event saw notable personalities like Bimbo Ademoye, Broda Shaggi, and stars from Big Brother Naija clinching awards in various categories.

However, the omission of Asaba-based actors from the nominations list sparked a wave of criticism on Twitter and other platforms.

Numerous Twitter users voiced their disappointment, specifically calling out the AMVCA organizers for disregarding Destiny Etiko’s talents and colleagues from Asaba and the Eastern part of Nigeria.

Many argued that these actors had consistently delivered remarkable performances in their movies, deserving recognition for their contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
