Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed plans for a potential fight between former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and Joshua, News About Nigeria reports.

Hearn revealed that he recently visited Ngannou in Las Vegas to discuss the possibility of the fight and was impressed by Ngannou’s remarkable journey from the UFC to boxing.

Hearn acknowledged that while Ngannou is eager to take on Joshua, the British boxer currently has other priorities, including a potential doubleheader scheduled for December.

However, Hearn assured that he would discuss the proposal with Joshua and believes that the fight could be appealing to him.

Ngannou, who has been a free agent since leaving the UFC, has expressed his interest in venturing into the boxing ring. He has been in talks with several top-ranked boxers, such as Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, and Joshua, with his preference being a fight against Joshua in Africa.

Ngannou believes that such a fight would excite Joshua, as he has previously expressed his desire to compete on the continent due to his heritage.

“Anthony Joshua is a fight we like,” Ngannou revealed in an interview. “We spoke with Eddie [Hearn] once, but that was when Joshua was about to fight Franklin. If we bring this fight to Africa, it will be massive. I think this will get him excited, that he can fight on this continent,” Ngannou added.

Both fighters have a significant fan base and a fight between them would undoubtedly generate immense interest and attention. While Joshua’s focus is currently on other commitments, the possibility of a future clash between these two heavyweights remains a tantalizing prospect for boxing enthusiasts.
