Lionel Messi has tendered an apology to his Paris Saint-Germain teammates after he bagged a two weeks suspension for embarking on an unsanctioned, mid-season trip to Saudi Arabia without informing the club.

Messi embarked on the trip after his side suffered a league defeat to Lorient, News About Nigeria gathered.

Taking to his Instagram, the Argentine in a widely spread video, was seen addressing the aftermath of his ban.

“I thought we had a day off after the game. I had organised this trip and I could not cancel it. I had cancelled it before. I apologise to my teammates and I am waiting for what the club wants to do with me,” he said.

The actions of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, is said to have widened his relationship with his fans and PSG supporters, who partook in protests against the forward outside of the club’s headquarters.

Speaking in a press conference, Christophe Galtier PSG Boss earlier suggested that talks will be held between Messi and the club when he returns.

“We’ll see when Leo returns what will happen. Obviously, there will be discussions with the entire club but also with Leo, who is the primary person.

“I did not have to make the decision, I was informed of the decision,” the French man added, denying claims that he was the one who suspended Messi.

The Argentine future with the club is now doubtful, as he is set to leave PSG at the end of his contract.

Recall that Barcelona has regularly been on the door, to welcome Messi back to Camp Nou. However, no such move has been made to this effect.

Messi has also been linked with a probable move to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, for a record fee this summer.
