In a tragic turn of events, a 22-year-old Canadian actor has passed away after undergoing a series of extreme cosmetic surgeries to look like a K-pop star.
Saint Von Colucci, who moved to South Korea in 2019 to pursue a career in entertainment, had reportedly undergone twelve cosmetic procedures in the last year alone, spending over $220,000 in the process.
According to his publicist, Eric Blake, Von Colucci was very unhappy with his appearance and felt that his “Western looks” were holding him back in the competitive world of South Korean entertainment.
Von Colucci had apparently become obsessed with the idea of looking like BTS singer Jimin, and had undergone surgeries including a facelift, nose job, eye lift, eyebrow lift, and lip reduction in a bid to achieve the desired look.
However, complications from his most recent surgery proved fatal. Von Colucci had gone under the knife on April 22 to remove jaw implants he had put in last November, but developed an infection after the procedure and had to be intubated. He passed away shortly afterward, on Sunday, at a South Korean hospital.
The tragic news has shocked fans and colleagues alike, with many expressing their condolences on social media. However, News About Nigeria understands the incident has also raised concerns about the dangers of extreme cosmetic surgery and the pressure that individuals can feel to conform to societal beauty standards.
Cosmetic surgery is a popular industry in South Korea, with the country often being referred to as the “plastic surgery capital of the world.” However, critics have long argued that the industry is largely unregulated, and that patients may not always be fully informed of the potential risks involved in such procedures.
Von Colucci’s passing is a stark reminder of the dangers of extreme cosmetic surgery and the importance of prioritizing health and well-being over achieving an unrealistic standard of beauty. As friends and family mourn the loss of this young actor, it is hoped that his tragic story will serve as a cautionary tale for others considering such procedures.
