Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has responded tearfully to accusations from his colleague, Rossy Adaigwe, for his failure to refund ₦700k that was paid to him for a movie role.
News About Nigeria understands that Adaigwe, who is both an actress and a director, had paid Emodi the amount, but he later rejected the role and refused to refund the money.
Emodi took to social media to share his side of the story in a video that quickly went viral.
In the video, Emodi tearfully explained that he was underpaid for the role and that he had initially accepted the ₦700k as a gesture of goodwill.
He revealed that his usual fee for such a role is ₦10 million, but he agreed to the lower amount out of goodwill.
According to Emodi, the disagreement arose when the director increased the number of scenes from the initial agreement of 40 scenes to 60 scenes without adjusting the payment accordingly.
This led to a misunderstanding between him and Adaigwe, resulting in his decision to reject the role and withhold the refund.
Emodi expressed his regret and sadness over the situation, stating that he never intended to cause any harm or inconvenience to Adaigwe or anyone else.
He emphasized that he values his reputation in the industry and strives to maintain professionalism in all his engagements.
On the other hand, Adaigwe has yet to respond to Emodi’s explanation, and the issue has sparked mixed reactions on social media.
Some fans have expressed sympathy towards Emodi, acknowledging the challenges and discrepancies that can arise in the entertainment industry.
Others have criticized Emodi for accepting payment for a role he later rejected, while some have called for an amicable resolution between the two parties.
