Murderer Louis Gaskin

A man identified as Louis Gaskin who was charged in 1989 after the killing of a couple has been executed on Wednesday evening in Florida.

News About Nigeria confirmed that the Florida Department of Corrections had given the statement in the news release.

He had shot Robert Sturmfels, 56, and Georgette Sturmfels, 55, on December 20, 1989, according to a further report.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Gaskin’s death warrant on March 13, according to the documents, and the state Supreme Court rejected appeals filed by Gaskin since the warrant was signed.

Gaskin’s death has been marked the state’s 101st execution since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976.

He was nicknamed “ninja killer” because he was always in all-black ninja clothing during his crimes and had also always shot his victims with a 22-caliber rifle.

Local media reported at the time that Gaskin quickly confessed to the crimes and told a psychologist before his trial that he knew what he was doing.

“The guilt was always there,” Gaskin said. “The devil had more of a hold than God did. I knew that I was wrong. I wasn’t insane.”

Gaskin was also convicted of armed robbery, burglary and attempted murder committed the same night.

Before Gaskin’s execution, there have been  298 people on death row in the state.

Gaskin had woken up at 4:45 a.m on  Wednesday and had his last meal at 9:45 am.

The meal had included BBQ pork ribs, pork and turkey neck, Buffalo wings, shrimp fried rice, french fries and water.

The death of the 56-year-old criminal was announced at exactly  6:15 p.m after he had taken a lethal injection.

None of the relatives of the victims had arranged to be in the witness room during the execution, which was scheduled for 6 p.m. and started without delay.

When asked if he had any final statement, Gaskin said: “Justice is not about the crime. It’s not about the criminal. It’s about the law.”
