A Nigerian woman, known only as Linda, has shared a heartbreaking story of how her fiancé’s gambling addiction led to the cancellation of their planned wedding.

Linda took to an anonymous messaging platform to reveal that they had been in a relationship for eight years and were looking forward to starting a life together.

However, her fiancé’s addiction to sports betting ultimately destroyed their relationship.

Linda admitted that she was aware of her fiancé’s gambling habits, but she believed he would eventually overcome them.

Unfortunately, she learned the hard way that his addiction was deeply ingrained and had dire consequences.

Her fiancé had used money that was meant for their wedding preparations to gamble and he lost it all.

As a result, Linda was forced to cancel the wedding as the financial loss was too significant to recover from.

She expressed her disappointment and heartbreak over the situation, as she had invested so much time and effort into the relationship.

Linda wrote; “Gambling and betting actually ended my relationship of 8 years, when we were about getting married.

I am a lady, I was thinking he would change, he plays the betting they call virtual “baby”, the money meant for the wedding preparation he wasted it in that game, I had to cancel the wedding.”

Similarly, a Nigerian woman, identified as Maryam Lasisi, has shared how she lost interest in a man she was considering dating due to his reaction to losing a sports bet.

Maryam recounted an incident when she called the man on the phone and he was crying uncontrollably because his betting ticket did not win, which left her feeling irritated.

Maryam acknowledged that she does not see anything wrong with men showing emotions, but she felt that the way he cried was excessive for a grown man.

She explained that this incident changed her impression of him and ultimately led her to abandon the idea of pursuing a relationship with him.

Maryam wrote; ”I called him and he was crying because his bet cut. I’m all for men showing emotions but hearing “Omo I f**k up” while someone was crying his eyes out was very cringe. Omo, I couldn’t look at him the same way again abeg.”
