As the Super Falcons of Nigeria prepare to battle New Zealand tomorrow (Tuesday) in a friendly match, Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed confidence that the Nigerian girls will put up a magnificent performance during the Women’s FIFA World Cup later this year.

The Leicester City and Super Falcons defender made her first Nigeria debut in February 2022, joining other notable names in the squad.

Recall that Nigeria’s Super Falcons are among the 32 teams that will compete for silverware in Australia and New Zealand during the summer.

News About Nigeria gathered that the Nigerian girls will face co-hosts Australia, Canada and the Republic of Ireland in Group B.

Plumptre said the Super Falcons are currently trying to cover grounds, putting little details into practice.

“Obviously we’ve got our eyes set on the summer but right now we’re trying to just put little details into practice and make sure that come the summer the team is ready to perform.”

She also recognizes the competitiveness of the World Cup but believes that won’t deter the team from putting up a good performance.

“Yeah we know we’re obviously against really good competition, we definitely can’t look past that. Pressure is on the likes of Canada and Australia and I know we have some amazing talent in this team, so we’re definitely going to put in some good performances and I think we can cause some couple of upsets,”

The Super Falcons’ friendly tomorrow with New Zealand comes days after the girls thrashed Haiti 2-1 in a friendly last.
