Al Nassr has entered a kits sponsorship agreement with American sportswear giants Nike for next season, News About Nigeria understands.

This was disclosed by the club on their official Twitter handle on Monday, stating that it will take effect during the Al-Nassr Japan tour at the end of July.

“We are delighted to announce Nike as our official kit supplier for the 2023/24 season. This deal will be activated starting from AlNassr Japan tour at the end of July,” the message reads.

Al Nassr will be the second club with Nike’s sponsorship, after Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023/24 season.

The sportswear brand will take over from Saudi-based sportswear brand Duneus, which was the former sponsor of the club.

The deal is argued to have been allegedly attracted by the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

Nike had endorsed Ronaldo since 2003 when he was at Sporting Lisbon and has remained with the world’s leading sportswear brand since then.

Ronaldo was instrumental to Al Nassr’s second-spot position on the Saudi Pro League table in the last campaign, after racking up 14 goals and two assists in 16 matches.

The club finished second with 67 points from 30 league matches.

The league is expected to be more competitive following the signings of notable names in the European top-flight leagues.

Recall that four of the leading Saudi Arabian clubs taken over by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF); Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr, recently went on rampage in Europe, stealing some of its brightest stars.

Among such notable players are Karim Benzema, of Real Madrid, N’Golo Kante, Édouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly, all former Chelsea stars, among others.
